Sage CRM Terminology

When we get into user training for new Sage CRM users, it is paramount that we are all speaking the same language. The reality is that the client uses expressions we aren’t familiar with, and likewise, Sage CRM is using expressions that might not mean the same thing to everyone.

To that end, our Project Managers review key terms with users at the onset of a new project. It helps. Click here to renew our Sage CRM Terminology page.

Don't Worry

Any/all of the terms within Sage CRM can be changed to match your companies lingo!

Training and Follow through

You can’t just turn it on and use it. And you can’t expect staff to automatically understand how it works and the gazillion options they have for using it.

Deploying Sage CRM properly requires an experienced guide and follow-through support. The advantage of working with My CRM Manager is that we have the best guides!

We have recently updated our page related to Sage CRM training and support. Please take a look.

Mobile Access Page

We have updated our Mobile Access page to include updated videos for the 2 most common ways Sage CRM customers bring up Sage CRM on their phones: (1) Sage CRM’s default Mobile Theme, and (2) MobileX.

The 2-minute video here provides a quick overview of MobileX. This is the option that we typically recommend to clients where mobile access is important. If you jump to our updated Mobile Access page, you can see both videos AND can download our MobileX user guide.

When is Sage CRM a bad fit?

Warning

Sage CRM isn’t for everyone. And even if the prospect is super keen, it still might not be a fit. The 2 items below help me quickly disqualify companies early in the sales cycle.

Too small to justify Sage CRM

Sage CRM is rarely a fit for companies requiring less than 6-users. The reason is, for smaller implementations, companies have a harder time justifying the upfront investment required for Sage CRM. Globally, the average Sage CRM implementation is 12-users. IMO, companies qualified for Sage CRM exceed each of these 3 minimum thresholds:

  • Minimum of 15 total staff
  • Gross revenue exceeds 3m/year
  • Require 6+ users in the system

*While I have had many, many projects that had <6-user licenses, they invariably fail to develop into a mutually beneficial, long-term relationship (they don’t stick). However, there have also been lots of great accounts where the company originally thought Sage would be applicable for the 5-sales users, but then after seeing it in action decided to have additional staff use the system. That is why I ask about the total employee count.

Only want a CRM hosted by the publisher

Some companies I speak to are firmly in the camp of ‘I don’t want anything other than a solution hosted by the publisher‘. For those people, Sage is not a fit as Sage CRM is a private cloud (single tenancy solution). While over half of our Sage CRM systems reside ‘in the cloud’, a server must be provided or organized for Sage CRM. I have never been successful at swaying anyone that has the ‘must be hosted by the publisher’ mindset.

Communication Statistics

Often, clients use Sage CRM to record communications relative to a Company, Person, Opportunity, Case (Job), etc. These can be meetings, calls, emails (in or out), or otherwise. Remember, Sage CRM is fundamentally a communications system.

Our Communication statistics code makes it very easy to measure how often (or not) users record these interactions.

This image shows fields on the Company summary screen that reflects data from the communications tab. And the information collected is often used in reports and dashboards. For example in certain reports that display in our User Activity Dashboard.

5 Most Frequently Asked Questions About Sage CRM

5 most frequently asked questions about sage crm

You need a way to organize different aspects of your business, so you’re considering using a CRM.  Well, meet Sage CRM, a software application that you can use to organize how information flows through your business.  To give you a little more information, we’ve compiled the 5 most frequently asked questions about Sage CRM.  Take a look!

1. What is Sage CRM?

Sage CRM is a communication system, and different companies use it for different purposes.  Primarily organizations use it to profile and manage the progression of information that passes through their business.  They also use it to manage how information progresses through their organization.

For example, companies could use it to manage customer service issues and keep track of how they are handled and escalated.  Or they could use it to organize documents and applications to keep track of how information is recorded.

Sage also integrates with MailChimp, so businesses can create and send out email blasts to groups and view the results directly in the application.  Not only can business owners connect to MailChimp, but they can also connect their MS Outlook account through Sage’s Outlook Plugin.

Businesses can also connect Sage to their websites to pull information in a quick and convenient way to have it organized for future reference in different departments.

2. What’s so special about Sage CRM?

Sage CRM is special because it’s web-based, but installed on servers that clients can control (on-premise).  It’s a very flexible tool that can do anything a business needs.  One example is its ability to integrate with accounting systems, which is extremely helpful to business owners.  Other leading CRM applications don’t do this.  Sage also has a feature called “workflow” that makes it easy for business owners to create structure for any business process.

So really, you can get Sage CRM to do just about anything your business needs.

3. What does Sage CRM cost?

Sage CRM costs an amazing price of $35 per user.  This makes it approximately a third of the price of other top-tier CRM applications.

4. Who are these leading CRM competitors of Sage CRM?

SalesForce.com, Microsoft and SugarCRM are Sage CRM’s main competitors.  But Sage has strong integrations with Sage’s line up of accounting systems too.  And the total cost of ownership for their product is less than their competitors, which is why they consistently win the industry’s Value Award.

5. Who buys Sage CRM?

Sage CRM is ideal for privately held companies who bring in annual sales of $5 to $25 million.  The majority of businesses who use the application have around 10 to 25 staff members that routinely use the system.
